What Happens in Kids Church?
If you are thinking about visiting a church and you have kids, this question is probably near the top of your list.
What will it be like?
Will my child be safe?
Will they feel comfortable?
Will it be chaotic?
Will they be bored?
Those questions are completely normal.
At Centre Point Church in Langley, we believe kids are not an afterthought. They matter deeply. And we want parents to feel confident long before they walk through the doors.
If you are also wondering what the overall Sunday experience feels like, you can read more about what to expect when you visit church in Langley.
Here is what you can expect.
A safe and secure environment
Safety is the first priority.
When you arrive, you will be guided through a simple check in process. Your child receives a name tag, and you receive a matching pickup tag. Only you can pick up your child after the service.
All of our kids volunteers are carefully screened, trained, and complete criminal record checks before serving. We take this seriously because your child’s safety and your trust matter deeply to us.
If your child needs you during the service, we have a way to contact you right away.
You will not be left guessing.

Age appropriate environments
Kids church at Centre Point is designed around your child’s stage of life.
Rather than sitting through an adult service they do not understand, kids experience teaching, activities, and conversations designed specifically for them.
That usually includes:
Engaging Bible stories
Interactive discussion
Music and movement
Games or creative activities
The goal is not to lecture kids. It is to help them understand who Jesus is in a way that makes sense at their age.
Leaders who genuinely care
Our kids team is made up of volunteers who love children and want to invest in them.
They are not just there to supervise a room. They are there to genuinely connect with your child.
We want every child to feel:
Seen
Known
Safe
Encouraged
We understand that every child is different. Some jump right in. Some take time to warm up. Both are okay.
What if my child is nervous?
That is completely normal, especially on a first visit.
You are welcome to:
Walk your child to their room
Stay for a few minutes to help them settle
Ask as many questions as you need
If you would rather keep your child with you in the main service for the first week, that is okay too.
There is no pressure to do it perfectly.
What are kids actually learning?
At Centre Point, we want kids to grow up knowing they are loved by God and valued by others.
We focus on:
God’s love and grace
Kindness and compassion
Honesty and integrity
Courage and faith
Making wise choices
Our heart is not just to fill kids with information. It is to help shape character and build a foundation that lasts beyond Sunday.
If you are still unsure about church or what you believe, we wrote something specifically for that too. You can read that here.
How long does it last?
Kids church runs during the main Sunday service, which is about an hour.
When the service ends, you will pick up your child with your matching tag.
Many parents tell us their kids look forward to coming back the next week. That is always encouraging to hear.
What if my child has special needs?
If your child has specific needs or sensitivities, we want to partner with you.
Before your visit, you are welcome to reach out and let us know how we can best support your child. Our goal is to create an environment where every child can participate and feel comfortable.
You know your child best. We are here to listen.
You do not have to figure this out alone
Trying a new church can feel like a big step, especially with kids.
We understand the weight parents carry. You are not just choosing a Sunday activity. You are choosing an environment that shapes your family.
We do not take that lightly.
Your kids matter to us not because they are future adults, but because they are people right now.
