PARENTING IN A TECH WORLD

How do you help your child have a positive healthy relationship with technology while navigating the tension of what they are exposed to online? When is the right time to allow children to access technology, and when are they ready?

Technology has had far reaching effects on children as social media, computers, smartphones, the internet, and streaming services have become a more integrated part of our society. No parent or caregiver (before our generation!) had to navigate the nuances that come with children spending upwards of eight hours online between school, gaming, social media, and just interpersonal communication.

Our families have been adversely affected by technology, just like yours. Whether it's viewing inappropriate material or being unable to focus on anything else. We've felt the tension of needing to use technology and being concerned with what our kids might stumble into online.

Also, our families have been positively affected by technology. Whether Facetiming with grandparents, chatting with friends who have moved away, or playing online games among siblings, we've benefitted from the connection that technology and social media can bring.

Join us for a conversation with Dr. Bill Hamilton and Dr. Briar Schulz (Bio’s below) as we unpack the positive and negative impacts of technology and how we move forward in a positive way.
